Acknowledging that it is the best mode of innovation, OPT returns about 10% of its annual revenue into Research and Development. The OPT R&D Centre is an integrated research organization in cementing, stimulation and well intervention. Formed of world-leading scientists and engineers OPT R&D teams have developed an impressive roster of products and technologies during their 10 years in well service delivery. Their Well Cementing technologies include a broad variety of systems from high temperature cementing and multi-functional fluid migration control to unconventional density thixotropic cement and high efficiency chemical wash and spacer systems. Well Stimulation the technologies range from crosslinked high performance guar systems for high temperature fracturing applications and emulsified acid, gelled acid and viscoelastic diverter systems for acidizing.
OPT engineers have overseen some of the industry’s most impactful chemical advances. ‘OptiFrac’ for example, is a robust and cost-effective fracturing fluid technology that balances high performance pumpability and conductibility with minimal environmental impact. OPT technologies have been developed in direct response to the challenges encountered in unconventional spaces of operation, such as geothermal or shale oil and gas reservoirs, offering a selection of fluids that can withstand exceptionally high temperatures and depths.
“EAT” and “CAT” technologies are OPT’s superior acid systems used in carbonate stimulation treatments to not only divert acids for maximal zonal coverage, but also to function as a selective treatment to increase oil production and reduce water loss. The operational simplicity and non-damaging nature of these technologies mitigate operational risks and improves treatment fluid flow-back. OPT also works continuously to develop safe, reliable and accurate data evaluation systems in order to guarantee reliability, accuracy, and easy access to real-time information before and during any treatment.
